How to make it
For sore-throat-and-fever colds: 金银花 9 g + 菊花 6 g + 薄荷 3 g (added last 2 min) + 甘草 2 g, steep covered 10 min. Pharmacy 银翘 granules are the practical version.
Why it works
Light, cooling foods (congee, pear); skip greasy and heavily warming foods while feverish.
Classical source
From Wenbing Tiaobian 温病条辨 (1798) — the warm-disease school that arose from epidemic medicine in the Qing dynasty.
