Ginkgo & ginseng — the honest verdict 银杏·人参:如实评价

Brain, Focus & Memory 健脑·专注·记忆 early evidence
What the evidence says:
Ginseng may give a small SHORT-TERM alertness/working-memory bump. Ginkgo's effect on memory is small and inconsistent, and it does NOT prevent dementia (large trials negative). Mildly helpful at best — and ginkgo thins blood.

How to make it

A little ginseng tea for a demanding day; standardised ginkgo (EGb 761) only if you understand the modest, uncertain evidence. Neither replaces sleep.

Why it works

Skip the "nootropic stacks" hype; basics do more.

Classical source

Ginseng "calms the spirit and sharpens the mind" in the Shennong Bencao Jing.

Cautions: Ginkgo/ginseng affect bleeding and blood pressure/sugar and interact with drugs — check with a professional. Ginkgo NUTS (raw) are toxic — different from the leaf.
