Mosquito bites & itch — what helps 蚊虫叮咬·止痒

Bites, Stings & Rashes 虫咬·皮疹 early evidence
What the evidence says:
For an ordinary itchy bite: a cold compress and not scratching help most; menthol/peppermint gives a cooling anti-itch sensation; an antihistamine or hydrocortisone (pharmacy) is the evidence-based option for bad itching.

How to make it

Wash the area, apply something cold 10 min, dab a little diluted peppermint or a pharmacy anti-itch cream. Keep nails short to avoid scratching-infection.

Why it works

Classical source

Cooling, "wind-damp"-clearing herbs are the traditional frame for itchy skin.

Cautions: EMERGENCY: swelling of face/lips/throat, widespread hives, or trouble breathing after a bite/sting = anaphylaxis → call emergency services. A hot, spreading, painful bite that worsens over days may be infected → doctor.
